Ostracodes are tiny shrimp-like animals that live inside two bean-shaped
shells (seen above, left; in close-up, right). Most are tiny and can only
be identified with additional magnification. Leperditian ostracodes, such
as this specimen, are unusually large and may reach 1 cm in length.
