Harpid trilobites have a large horseshoe-shaped head that wraps around the side of the rest of the tiny body (the entire specimen measures cm long). Although the body portion of this specimen is completely covered up by rock, this and other harpid species can be identified by the distinctive patterns of bumps and ridges on the head, as well as by slight variations in the shape of the heads.
