FAMILY - Eocrinidae
GENUS/SPECIES - Gogia sp.
ROCK UNIT - Spence Shale
AGE - Middle Cambrian (530 million years old)

Eocrinoids are among the earliest echinoderms to appear in the fossil
record. Although they have the same basic body plan as crinoids (stem,
main body portion/thecae & arms), they differ from crinoids by having
an irregular arrangement of plates in the theca and pores along plate
boundaries. The simple, unbranched arms of Gogia twist away from
the body.
