The Columbian or "New World" Mammoth (Mammuthus columbi)is the only species of mammoth entirely native to North America. Its bones and teeth are found in southern parts of the United States and only rarely in the North. We think that the Columbian Mammoth had much less hair than its cousin the Woolly Mammoth.
