Fossil fish teeth

scale in cms

Fossil teeth of sharks and several other common fish are found along beaches in the southeastern United States. The typical narrow, pointed teeth of sand sharks (above) are well adapted to snagging fish, whereas other fish with flat teeth are well adapted to crushing the shells and skeletons of small invertebrate animals (such as drum and porcupine fish, above).
