The Devonian Period |
In Earth history, the time from 408
to 360 million years ago is named the Devonian Period.
Scientists named this time period back in 1837, for rocks found in
the Devon region of England.
Many important events happened during the Devonian Period. While both fish and land plants appeared in earlier time periods ,these groups became abundant and appeared in many different forms during the Devonian. Because of this, the Devonian is sometimes called the "Age of Fishes".
