Triumph Hill
Triumph Hill held the highest density of wells in the Oil Regions. In this photograph alone, more than 100 derricks can be counted. These wells produced hundreds-of-thousands of barrels of the purest oil in the region. This photograph is an excellent example of the overproduction of many fields in the area. Years later, it was discovered that putting wells too close together actually decreases the amount of oil that can be taken from the ground. Back to Oil History of Pennsylvania |
