Many pigments, dyes, solvents, oil-based paints, plastic paints, and paint additives are manufactured from petrochemicals.

Plastics are often used in paints to give it a glossy appearance. These plastics also give the paint a tough surface which can be wiped easily with a damp cloth. These paints dry quickly and are less toxic than most paints that were used thirty years ago. These durable paints save us money overtime, since these surface do not need to be repainted as often.
