Dive deep at the Museum of the Earth this summer! Gather around as we listen, look, sing and explore with picture books. Join us each week with your toddlers and preschoolers for a deep sea adventure including stories, songs, and activities. We will introduce a new story and activities each week.


  • July 5th: “Sharks & Shapes” with the book: “Shark in the Park by Nick Sharratt. We'll be making shadow puppets.
  • July 12: “Fish Food” with the book: A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea. We'll be making clothes pin sharks.
  • July 19: “Colorful Corals” with the book: Over in the Ocean in a Coral Reef by Marianne Berkes. We'll be building a coral reef.
  • July 26: “Ocean Opposites” with the book: I’m the Biggest thing in the Ocean by Kevin Sherry. We'll be making octopus puppets.
  • August 2: “Buoyant Bodies” with the book: Breathe by Scott Magoon. We'll be making Life-sized drawings.
  • August 9: “Fish Patterns” with the book: The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. We'll be making moving fish.
  • August 16: “Shark vs. Train” with the book: Shark vs. Train by Chris Barton. We'll be making shark hats.
  • August 23: “Crabby Communities” with the book: A House for a Hermit Crab by Eric Carle. We'll be making paper plate hermit crabs.
  • August 30: “Feeling Fishy” with the book: This is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen. We'll be making bowler hats.
