End Triassic - 200 million years ago
 
This extinction, between the Triassic and Jurassic period, wiped out many species of terrestrial amphibian and reptile, which allowed the dinosaurs to become dominant during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
 
Cause:  
Probably volcanic activity or asteroid impact, with associated global warming and sea level change.
     
Result:  
Approximately 50% of all species went extinct.
