This graph shows global temperature from 1860 to the present. ‘0’ is defined as the average temperature from 1961 to 1990, and the graph indicates that since around 1980, temperature has been higher than average every year, and the number of degrees by which it is higher is increasing steadily.
   
This graph illustrates temperature in the same way as the last, showing deviations from a global average temperature, but you can see how increases are distributed over the planet. The average temperature in this graph, ‘0’, is the average from 1940 to 1980.
