Dorothy K. Palmer (1897-1947) received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley and, while accompanying her husband, geologist Robert H. Palmer (d. 1948), in his moves and travels working for various oil companies, did important studies on foraminifera of the Gulf coast and especially Cuba, where she spent the last 20 years of her life. When she died, her large collection of Foraminifera came to the PRI.
