Laine is the Director of Live Animal Collections. Some of her responsibilities include managing the Animal Department budget, grants, department expenses, and program income.

She also has oversight of the Animal Education Manager and Aquatic Animal Manager. Additionally, she enjoys working with the animal care volunteers, interns, and work-studies.

She maintains all permitting for the collection and possession of the live animals at the Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) including Cayuga Nature Center and the Museum of the Earth.

You can find her spending much of her time monitoring the animal department's best husbandry practices, acquisitions of new animals, health and well-being, nutritional assessments, enrichment activities, and maintaining overall high standard of care for the live animal collection for the Museum of the Earth and Cayuga Nature Center.

Her other contributions to PRI include conducting live animal programs, demonstrations, and conservation advocacy for protecting Cayuga Basin's native species. She take pleasure in working with the public from the youngest Pre-Kindergarten groups, to the senior citizens and all ages in between who stop by for animal feedings, schedule programs at the nature center, or for schedule a travelling program offsite. She also assists in signage and curriculum development for the variety of offered animal programs.

Laine started at PRI in March 2018 and has a strong passion for her work. In her spare time, she especially enjoys birding, hiking, kayaking, playing volleyball, and spending time with family.
