Survivors: Up Close with Living Fossils

Survivors: Up Close with Living Fossils

February 8 - September 2, 2019
Museum of the Earth

Come explore the fascinating world of organisms seemingly forgotten by time. Why and how have these plants, animals, and microbes -- from horseshoe crabs and spotted gar to stromatolites and dawn redwoods -- changed so little over millions of years? In this engaging, interactive exhibit, you'll discover the captivating stories behind the evolution, conservation, and discovery of the creatures we call "living fossils." Get up close and personal with horseshoe crabs and sea stars in our special touch tank and view rare fossil and modern specimens from PRI's world-class collection alongside live Animal Ambassadors from the Cayuga Nature Center.

This project was made possible in part with support from Charles River Laboratories
and a grant from the Tompkins County Tourism Program.
