PRI offers a wide range of opportunities to learn about biological evolution and origin of biodiversity, including its fossil specimen-rich Museum of the Earth exhibit displays and the live animals and plants at the Cayuga Nature Center. We integrate evolution in programs on both live and fossil animals, and present programs on evolution and the fossil records to numerous undergraduate classes visiting from local colleges and universities. With Cornell University PRI runs an annual week of programs on evolution in February called “Darwin Days.” You can learn more about evolution in online resources and books.

Teacher-Friendly Guides to evolution

The PRI Teacher-Friendly Guide series has two volumes on evolution, each focused on an organism — bivalves and maize — that is widely familiar to students, that is readily available, and that can be used in classroom curricula to discuss the process of evolution.

BioBlitz - 24-Hour Search for Species

A BioBlitz is an intense period of biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area. Groups of scientists, naturalists and volunteers conduct an intensive field study over a continuous time period.
